Which Indian Ethnic Outfit suits your Zodiac Sign personality?

Aries Women – Vibrant, energetic, dynamic, restless, hasty, rebellious, determined, optimistic, these women are powerhouses of energy.

Lehengas are great for them. But, Aries don’t like difficult-to-handle, weighty styles. So, modest flares, possibly A-line styles, easy dupattas and sparsely embellished blouses are great for them. What they lack in embellishment, they can make up for it in bright colours and splashy jewelry.

Spunky Lara Dutta is an Aries, and that’s visible in her cool style.

Taurus Women – Sincere, stable, headstrong, family loving, staid, stubborn, relaxed, Taurus women are a force to reckon with.

These ladies are conservative, but don’t mind showing off and dressing up, as they are confident. But, they must not go overboard with heavy garments, make up and chunky jewelry, as they are naturally graceful. Simplicity suits them the best!

Amazingly centred Anushka Sharma looks gorgeous in this simple red salwar suit in a scene from her upcoming movie #Sultan.

Gemini Women – Quirky, multi-faceted, talkative, confident, communicative, versatile, dual-natured, vacillating Gemini women, often, are an enigma.

Super confident of their preferences, Gemimi women take fashion pretty seriously. They are open minded, and can carry a variety of Indian dresses, even the ones that are ‘different’. They must try quirky sarees, offbeat drapes, long, cape style kurtas and teeny cholis.

Bollywood’s reigning style diva Sonam Kapoor is a Gemini. Do we need to say anything more?

Pretty Sonakshi is another Gemini stunner, who is quite eclectic in her fashion choices. We love!

Cancer Women – Emotional, sensitive, judgemental, possessive, reclusive, rigid, loyal and homely, Cancer women have a vulnerable, lost-in-the-woods-babe charm that masks their strong internal make-up. Men find them desirable.

Cancer women are pretty indeed, and that is why, demure lehengas, long cape style Indo-Western outfits and fluid, lightly embroidered sarees suit them well. Crabby women, however, should stick to coy styles, as too much of skin show is not for them.

Stunner Katrina Kaif is a Cancer woman, and we love her sweet style.

A photo posted by Priyanka Chopra (@priyankachopra) on

India’s latest export to Hollywood - Priyanka Chopra is a Cancer babe too. She is super stylish, and so are many Cancer women!

Leo Women – Vibrant, lively, stubborn, generous, amiable, domineering, divasque, regal Lionesses of the Zodiac are quite interesting.

These powerhouses of energy get bored easily. They vary their style, but somehow always prefer royal, elegant looks. They don’t care about the world. Sarees with teeny weeny cholis, super stylish salwar suits and high-slit Indian capes, traditional lehengas – bright and spunky – go well with their vivacious personalities.

Super stylish Jacqueline Fernandez is a royal Leo. Well, who isn’t impressed by this lady’s style!

Virgo Women – Meticulous, organized, candid, critical, perfectionist and righteous, Virgo women know their mind and body, and won’t change it for anyone.

These fit and trustworthy women love Indian clothes, as they are, by nature, conservative and traditional. Big bindis, rich handlooms, big jewels, royal blouses – all gel well with their stable personalities. Although, they can also carry contemporary fashion well, they should stick to elegant stuff.

Beautiful Kareena Kapoor is a ravishing Virgo. No wonder, she looks the best in Indian fashion.

Libra Women – Balanced, fair, charming, friendly, candid, spontaneous, critical and headstrong, Libra women believe in justice, but may go, at times, too far in their quest for ‘right’.

Naturally elegant Libra ladies know the art of fine balancing like the back of their prim hands. They rarely go wrong in their sartorial choices. Nonetheless, they must steer clear of ‘over’ anything. Sarees, lehengas, Anarakali suit, handlooms stuff, bohemian Indian fashion – everything suits them well, provided they don’t overdo. They can carry all kinds of jewelry, but they must remain modest in make-up.

The symbol of graceful Indian beauty, statuesque Rekha is a sensuous Libra diva. No wonder, Rekha and Indian ethnic fashion go together amazingly well.

Scorpio Women – Sensuous, beautiful, loyal, friendly, vengeful, headstrong, possessive, meticulous, Scorpio women are simply stunning in their style and grace.

Scorpio women don’t hesitate in experimenting, and are, generally, ahead in their fashion and sartorial tastes. However, they also are somewhat conservative about their preferences. This intriguing duality lends them a near-perfect style. They look great in floor-length Anarkali suits, chic trouser suits, flowy Palzzao suits, contemporary lehenga cholis and form flattering georgette sarees.

Beautiful beyond words Aishwarya Rai is so amazing that she is often compared to ‘plastic’. Her wonderful sense of style and love for Indian fashion only adds to her splendor.

Sagittarius Women – Candid, communicative, interesting, detached, spiritual, travel loving, buoyant, flamboyant, Sagittarius women are archers by nature. Not scared of most things in life, they have a straight up approach to most things.

And, that includes their fashion choices and style. These busy, buzzy ladies don’t wish to spend a lot of time in dressing up, so cumbersome styles are out. They like breezy palazzo suits, chic trouser suits, easy to drape sarees and minimal Indian fashion. Indo-Western fusion is, understandably, their favorite.

Diya Mirza, splendid and fash-forward, is our Sagittarius woman of substance!

Capricorn Women – Sincere, responsible, conservative, honest, serious, cold, methodical yet emotional and trustworthy, these women are slightly old-fashioned. Their fashion choices are old world too – well, often!

But, when a Capri lady decides to go all out, she can be superbly chic too. But, traditional is still the best on them. They can experiment, but they should stick to elegant and classy stuff. Trashy and kitschy is not for them! Given their qualities, Capricorn women can be perfect brand ambassadors of Indian Ethnic fashion.

Vidya Balan is our Capricorn genteel lady, and her saree style is certainly to-die-for.

Aquarius Women – Friendly, humanitarian, detached, classy, vulnerable, wavering, spontaneous and somewhat strange, Aquarius women are often a mystery.

These ladies are known for their enchanting looks and deep eyes. Their free spiritedness and love for loungy stuff makes them biased towards western silhouettes, but when they go the Indian way, they stand out. Light colors, dainty embellishments, flared styles, fluid fabrics go well with their personalities.

Bubbly and cute Priety Zinta is a perfect Aquarius woman. Her pristine style is very copy-worthy.

Pisces Women – Sensitive, dreamy, poetic, creative, romantic, laidback, passive and likeable, Pisces women are very attractive, thanks to their coy feminine charm.

Their fashion choices are eclectic. Indian fashion looks good on Pisces, but it must be kept delicate. Outfits with feminine appeal like Bandhani duppattas, long Anarakalis, lehenga sarees, lehenga skirts are perfect for them. They, however, should avoid ‘larger-than-life’ stuff like big prints, chunky jewels, bodycon etc.

Demure and cute Alia Bhatt is a perfect inspiration - for how you Pisces dolls should carry Indian fashion.

Wardrobe Tips for Newly-wed Brides

Planning to put together your after-wedding wardrobe? Or, should we say – shopping for your wedding trousseau? Well, we all agree that it is a huge task!

For starters, picking gorgeous wedding ensemble and stunning outfits for all functions itself is a colossal chore. There is so much effort involved there that often the ensembles to be worn after the wedding drama is over take a back seat.

Well, when it’s about your wedding outfit – any amount of effort is justified. After all, this is the attire that you will cherish forever. However, never forget that the life actually begins, after the wedding day!

Your charm as new bride should be in top-shape, post the ceremonies too. As a newly-wed, you should be armed with great health - and an awesome, comfortable and intelligent collection of clothes and accessories. The wedding trousseau should also reflect your lifestyle. Remember, whether you will be an office-going newly-wed or stay-at-home new bride, you would be adjusting with a new set up, new people and a new household.

Panicking already? Well, don’t! First things first – focus on putting together a varied and well-researched trousseau. Second, go by the following tips by Saree.com, which will help you sort your life after you wedding.

DOMINANT SHADES

There are so many colors to choose from. But, there will always be a few dominant, vibrant and powerful ones that will always win. These also include the ones we naturally associate with something special. Like, in India, a certain color palette is closely connected with weddings – rosy reds, bright pinks, deep greens, jewel maroons, corals, and bright oranges.

So, no wonder when we are in a wedding planning mode, we get attracted towards the scarlet colour scheme. This way many women end up piling their entire trousseau ensembles in similar colours – a choice they regret later! So –
  • Pick different colors – Go the whole hog! You have the entire rainbow for you to choose from, then why stick to just one side of the color wheel. Don’t forget the blue and purple palette!
  • Reds, reds, reds – If red is truly what you want and crave, do pick a few ensembles in your favourite colour. After all, many women wait for their wedding - to finally wear this resplendent colour. However, channel red’s many variants. Play up red all across your wardrobe – if you have already bought two red sarees, stop. Now, pick one maroon palazzo suit, one reddish pink Pakistani suit, one flaming red Indo-western coat or jacket, a subdued red top, and maybe, a floral red and pink lehenga skirt.
  • Do the same for other favorite colours like Pinks or Greens
  • Mix and Match – colours. You may still pick bride appropriate colors, but tone them down. Diversify your wardrobe by introducing novel combinations.
  • Don’t be afraid of experimenting – You may have not worn a few colors earlier. But, wedding is the reason for getting an entirely new life… and wardrobe! So, while you are out in the shops or browsing online platforms like Saree.com, do keep your eye and mind open for ‘new’ colors and combos.

STAR TIP: Showrooms have smart lighting, which makes merchandise look extra impressive. See to it that you do not end up buying a saree or salwar suit, under a wrong impression. Some shades may seem darker inside the store, but may look duller outside. Always check your pick’s real shade by bringing it out in the sunlight, or under normal light. This is especially important when finding pairs and combos.

COLORS SUITABLE TO YOUR SKIN TONE AND PERSONALITY

Your skin tone and personality play an important role in your selection of outfits. They should, ideally! Every outfit that you wear must heighten your personality. It is the harmony between your skin tone, ensemble color and design, make-up and your overall confidence, which makes you look special!

  • Choose shades that complement your skin tone and overall persona. If you are gutsy and playful, and your hubby fell in love with these attributes of yours – don’t suddenly go all docile. Don’t hesitate to wear strking combinations, if your personality agrees with it. And don’t, if your persona doesn’t!
  • If you are a dusky beauty, just like Piggy Chops or Bipasha Basu, you have a super attractive color palette at your disposal. Demure, antique pinks matched with lighter shades looks stylish. Coral scheme looks awesome on Indian complexions. Combine coral and teal for some extra glam! Light blue and rust are other winners.
  • Dark, jewel hues like maroon or vermilion look cheery on Indian complexions. Brown, when paired well, can turn you into a classic beauty.
  • If you are light complexioned, like Aishwarya Rai, you have access to beautiful tints of peaches, golden yellows, greens, off-whites and mauves & violets.

YOUR BODY TYPE

Consider your natural body-type, while planning your trousseau.
  • Your Body Type is Unique - Many times, brides-to-be lose a plenty of weight, which can alter their body structure, for a while. However, the basic body type remains the same. For example, if you have broad shoulders or a large bone structure, you will never look like your Twiggy-friend. You even shouldn’t aspire to! Embrace your body. Exercise and stay fit, but don’t run after fads.
  • Buy for your body and life, not for the model in picture – It’s great if you have toned up prior to your wedding. But, stay true to your body type. Know what suits you and your lifestyle best, and don’t go after fads that you won’t wear again.
  • I knew of a girl who, by a combination of exercise, stringent diet and hormone pills, lost 29 kilograms prior to her wedding. Stuff she bought for her trousseau was straight out of fashion catalogues. Post her wedding, her new life and schedule did not allow her to follow her meticulous diet or gymming. Soon, she piled on some weight – at trouble spots. Out went her designer creations – which comprised her entire trousseau!
There are 5 major body types that usually women fit in  1) Apple 2) Hour-glass 3) Pear 4) Rectangle and 5) Inverted Triangle.
  1. Apples have a heavy upper body. Choose cuts that flatter and slim down your upper body, while adding some width to the lower half.
  2. Girls with hour-glass have a relatively balanced figure. But, they too should never go over-board. They must emphasize their lean waist, though.
  3. Pear shaped women are bottom and hip heavy. Focus, thus, should remain on the upper half. You can also accentuate your waist area.
  4. Rectangle body is, more or less, proportionate. However, definition or curves are missing. So, you can wear stuff that will define and accentuate your curves.
  5. Inverted Triangles must wear stuff that will create an illusion of symmetry. Try wearing stuff that will give an illusion of broad shoulders and torso.

DESIGNS & SILHOUETTES - CHOOSE THEM WISELY

Designs and silhouettes play an important role in defining your look. Stylish cuts and fits can create interesting and flattering illusions, thereby helping you camouflage body flaws and look your best.
  • Don’t just follow the fads. Look for styles and cuts that are interesting, unique as well as practical.
  • If you plan to work, post wedding, your trousseau should have clothes in clean lines, which you would be able to wear in an office environment.
  • Get yourself a good mix of all styles and designs, instead of sticking to only the ones in vogue. For example, palazzos may be ‘in’ at the moment, but buying all your Salwar Kameez Suits with palazzo bottoms doesn’t make sense. Get a mix of salwars, trousers, palazzos, churidaars, lehenga skirts, leggings etc.
  • Even, while planning and getting your saree blouses stitched, keep this in mind. You will need to wear your sarees for different life occasions, and all of these may not allow you to wear slingy shoulders or halter necks, or for that matter, sheer backs. Get your blouses and saree details in practical as well as traditional designs too.

FABRICS – QUITE IMPORTANT

Sarees and other Indian ethnic fashion wear are available in variety of fabrics. Georgettes, chiffons and silks rule the market, but also try collecting an array of fabrics, instead of sticking to one or two.

Georgette and chiffons are easy to carry and practical to wear, especially in Indian weather. They nicely emphasize your body shape. You can pick these classy sarees for low-key parties, events as well as for your work wardrobe.

Silks sarees are powerful symbols of tradition and beauty. Do pick a few of them for your trousseau, as these are classics and will rarely go out of style. However, here too get a good mix. Don’t just pick Kanjeevarams or ones with burnished gold borders. Add plain ones, printed ones as well as ones with quirky touches.

STAR TIP: For office-going women, half and half saree is no less than a boon. You can have clean vertical or horizontal print at the top, while quirky prints (made quite famous by the Indian designer Masaba Gupta) like cow, anchors, cameras etc. in the second half. The interesting half n half saree trend will keep you away from boring plain sarees.

Bipasha Basu Sizzles in Wedding Lehenga Cholis on a glossy’s cover shoot!

The beautiful, newly wedded bride Bipasha Basu recently appeared in a wedding-themed photo shoot for Hi! Blitz magazine. And, we must say, she looked spectacular! Decked in designer wedding ensembles with contemporary bent and bespoke heavy, Indian jewelry, Bips looked every bit a radiant diva.

Post her dream wedding to Karan Singh Grover, dusky Bollywood actress has been sporting a wavy blunt bob hair-style that makes her look younger and very trendy. With her post wedding glow firmly in place, Bips made for a perfect model for this photo-shoot, pictures of which she generously splashed on her Instagram account.

In the cover story of the magazine, Bong beauty opens up about her life post marriage, her hopes and dreams. In the glossy’s cover page picture, Bipasha looked regal yet trendy, dressed in a high-neck, flared blouson and a heavily embellished lehenga in ochre. The really prominent and heavy tribal inspired MaangTika she dons in the picture takes the cake here. Styled splendidly, Bipasha resembles a sculpture in this image.
Designer Pooja Shroff chose ensembles in a similar colour palette for this shoot. And, it cannot be a mere coincidence that this coral palette suits sultry Bips to the tee. However, in one of the pieces, which leans more towards pink than orange, the actress looked simply stunning. Who says women with Indian skin tones cannot carry pinks well? If you have any doubts about that – well, see Bipasha sizzling in this ethereal pink lehenga with fully embellished choli and a romantic net dupatta. The antique gold work and dabka all over the lehenga simply stand out! You too can buy such a pretty bridal lehenga choli from Saree.com. See here
.

Another burnt orange lehenga choli had Bips all smiles. She looks amazingly striking in this teeny weeny choli and flared lehenga in same colours and antique gold hand embroidery. The scalloped edges of her dupatta add a unique romance to this outfit. We love!

Happy-go-stunning Deepika turns heads at Mumbai airport….

Source: thequint.com
Look who is back in town!

After hobnobbing with filmy A-listers, our very own Bollywood queen bee Deepika Padukone is back to the home soil.
After wrapping up her work in Hollywood flick xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, the ravishing actress headed back to Mumbai, and immediately, the media went into frenzy.

Deepika has been spotted in the B-town, after quite a while, so naturally her fans and paparazzi were elated to get a glimpse of the dazzling diva at the Mumbai airport .

The beautiful and talented actress was last seen in the super-hit historical sketch Bajirao Mastani, where she was seen in a stunning range of Indian Ethnic wear. Her long capes and heavy anarkali suits caught the fancy of audiences. However, this time, we saw an entirely different avatar of Deepika.

Dressed in head to toe in an all-black chic ensemble, dashing diva looked each bit a polished and suave international celebrity. Seems her Hollywood outing has had a major influence on Deeps’style. However, what still remains unchanged is her quintessential, heart-warming smile. We love!

Though, we would have loved to see that mischievous glint in her eyes too, she hid it behind her designer sunglasses – in black. Her eye-catching shoes, thigh-high suede boots with pointy heels were the toast of her trendy outfit. Stylish actress gently and deftly broke the all-black spell with her big, black-lined shoulder tote in light grey tweed/suede. It was so spot on that it left us asking for more!

Deepika smartly blended a variety of textures in her airport chic look. While she kept her accessories in suede, she wore a pair of figure-hugging black leather pants and matched them with a black top and a black long cape (both sleeveless). Dare we say about her awesome fitness!

The radiant diva wore minimal make-up, but her French manicure and bright lippy shone on, nonetheless. The all-black ensemble also showed off Deepika’s glossy, chocolate brown tresses and creamy skin to perfection.

Need we say more?
